Kitchen Tidbits

Some interesting tidbits from NPD's Kitchen Audit found that:
-40% of Americans use a recipe once a week
-A cookbook owned for more than 2 years is the top recipe source
-61% of households read the newspaper food section
Ring true for you?

  1. Yep, that's me for all three! I use The Joy of Cooking all the time to check baking times and temps, and to find basic recipes I can tweak. It always makes me think of cooking with my aunt, who had a crumbling edition from when she was first married. For their 35th anniversary my uncle cheekily bought her a new one - but she still checks the old one for the classics.

  3. I've always hoped to find a well-loved and well-splattered copy of the Joy of Cooking at a yard sale - somehow it just doesn't seem right to buy a new copy. I've also always hoped to become a newspaper reader, but I think I'm giving up on that aspiration. :-)
